COVID-19 (CoronaVIrus Disease 2019) is a disease caused by a new (or novel) coronavirus that is spreading rapidly throughout the world. There does not yet exist a proven, tested inoculation that would halt or slow the spread of the virus. Most people who contract COVID-19 will recover but for some, particularly the elderly and those with pre-existing medical conditions, the effects could be deadly. The most effective method of slowing the spread of the disease currently is to avoid contact with other people to the fullest extent possible.
